As cardiologists, our physicians treat problems of the cardiovascular system - the heart and blood vessels of the body. Cardiology is classified as an internal medicine subspecialty. Knowledge of internal medicine and other specialties is required in order to obtain certification.

Billie Pugh, Jr., MD, FACC

Dr. Billie R. Pugh, Jr.,  CardiologistBillie R. Pugh, Jr., MD, was born in Corsicana, Texas. He received a B.S. degree from Abilene Christian College and his MD from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. Pugh completed training in internal medicine and cardiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Pugh has practiced general cardiology in Fort Worth since 1977.

William Vance, MD, FACC

Dr. William Vance, Cardiologist Dr. William S. Vance, Jr., was born in Fort Worth and received his bachelor of science in biology from Yale University. He received his MD from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He remained at UT Southwestern for training in internal medicine, then completed his fellowship in cardiovascular disease in San Antonio at the Bexar County and Audie Murphy VA Hospitals. Dr. Vance is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, with added qualifications in adult interventional cardiology, and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Vance was awarded "Instructor of the Year" at John Peter Smith Hospital for three consecutive years (1984-1986). His clinical interests include general and interventional cardiology.

John Durand, MD, FACC

Dr. John Durand,  Cardiologist Dr. John L. Durand was born in Phoenix, Arizona. He received his bachelor of science in engineering from Arizona State University. He was selected the Outstanding Graduate of the 1974 graduating engineering class. As a junior, he was elected a member of Tau Beta Pi, the scholastic engineering honorary. His medical education was completed at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He trained in internal medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, then completed his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Durand is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, with added qualifications in adult interventional cardiology and nuclear cardiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Durand's clinical interests include general, nuclear, interventional cardiology, and CT coronary angiography.

Wade McBride, MD, FACC

Dr. Wade McBride, Cardiologist Dr. K. Wade McBride was born in El Paso, Texas. He received his bachelor of science from Baylor University, graduating summa cum laude and becoming a member of Phi Beta Kappa honor society. His medical education was completed at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He remained at UT Southwestern for training in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and cardiac electrophysiology. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, with added qualifications in clinical cardiac electrophysiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. McBride's clinical interests include the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, including ablation procedures, implantation and follow-up of cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators.

Dr. Wade McBride is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hiking and bicycling - especially in Colorado, and is committed to maintaining a healthy life-style with regular running and other exercising. He is married; his wife operates her own horse and cattle ranch and their one daughter is completing her college education.

Dale Anderson, MD, FACC

Dr. Dale Anderson, Cardiologist Dr. R. Dale Anderson is originally from Lubbock, Texas. He received a bachelor of science degree from Austin College, where he held the Erwin Fellowship for Outstanding Students of Premedical Studies. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas, he completed residency training in internal medicine and fellowship training in cardiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Anderson joined Consultants in Cardiology in 1992. His clinical areas of interest include adult general cardiology, nuclear cardiology, and cardiac imaging.

Dr. Anderson is an avid tennis player and enjoys playing bridge in his spare time. He is a devoted husband to his wife Brenda and father to daughter Lizzy and son Price.

David Corley, MD, FACC

Dr. David Corley, Cardiologist Dr. David D. Corley was born in Fort Worth, Texas. He received a bachelor of science degree with departmental honors from Stanford University and his medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. He completed residency training in internal medicine at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas and fellowship training in cardiology at Texas Heart Institute/St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, with added qualifications in adult interventional cardiology, and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. His clinical areas of interest include adult general cardiology and percutaneous coronary and peripheral vascular intervention.

John Willard, MD, FACC

Dr. John Willard, Cardiologist Dr. John E. Willard was born in Fredonia, Kansas, and received his bachelor of science with honors in biology from Emporia State University, Emporia, Kansas. He received an MD with honors from Tulane University, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed training in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, with additional training in interventional cardiology. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, with added qualifications in adult interventional cardiology, and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Willard remained on the faculty of the Cardiovascular Division at UT Southwestern for 5 years and authored numerous research articles in the field of interventional cardiology. He continues to serve as a peer-reviewer for all the major cardiovascular research journals. His clinical interests include management of chronic ischemic heart disease congestive heart failure, valvular heart disease, maternal heart disease during pregnancy, coronary and peripheral vascular percutaneous revascularization.

David Parrish, MD, FACC

Dr. David Parrish, Cardiologist Dr. David L. Parrish, Jr., was born in Lawrence, Kansas. He received a bachelor's degree from Baylor University in 1988 (majoring in Spanish) and his MD degree from the University of Kansas in 1992 where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed residency training in internal medicine and fellowship training in cardiovascular disease at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas. Dr. Parrish is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. His clinical areas of interest include adult general cardiology, diagnostic invasive cardiology and non-invasive cardiac imaging.

Dr. Parrish's pride and joy is his family; wife Susan, daughter Emilie, and son Charlie. Dr. Parrish is very interested in soccer and has played and coached his entire life. He has been coaching youth soccer for the past several years and recently started a club team for 10 and 11 year old boys. Dr. Parrish is a wine collector who loves to travel to Napa Valley. Dr. Parrish also enjoys and belongs to McKinney Bible Church.

Sreenivas Gudimetla, MD, FACC

Dr. Sreenivas Gudimetla, Cardiologist Dr. Sreenivas Gudimetla was born in Manhattan, Kansas, and graduated from Southern Methodist University with a bachelor's degree in biology in 1987. His medical training was completed at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He trained in internal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas where he remained on faculty in general internal medicine for 2 years. Dr. Gudimetla completed training in cardiovascular diseases at the University of New Mexico and joined Consultants in Cardiology in 1999. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease and is a fellow of the American College of cardiology. His clinical interests include cardiac pacing, diagnostic invasive cardiology, non-invasive cardiac imaging, and clinical research. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association in Fort Worth and is Chairman of the Education Committee at Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital.

Dr. Gudimetla has lived most of his life in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Dr Gudimetla is an avid long distance runner, having run several marathons and half marathons. He also enjoys playing both acoustic and electric guitar in his spare time.

Joseph Ortenberg, MD, FACC

Dr. Joseph Ortenberg, Cardiologist Dr. Joseph M. Ortenberg was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science in biomedical engineering and mathematics from Vanderbilt University. His medical education was completed at Tulane University School of Medicine, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He trained in internal medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, then completed his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Ortenberg is the recipient of numerous research awards and prizes, including the John Herr Musser Memorial Prize and the Nicholas R. Diluzio Award in Physiology. He is the author of six original abstracts and research articles.

Dr. Ortenberg joined Consultants in Cardiology in 1999. His clinical interests include general and nuclear cardiology, as well as transesophageal echocardiography. He is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Robert Meidell, MD

Dr. Robert Meidell, Cardiologist Dr. Robert S. Meidell was born in Gross Pointe, Michigan. He received his bachelor of science degree from Yale University in molecular biophysics and biochemistry as a holder of the Samuel F.B. Morse College Fellows Award. Dr. Meidell graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan Medical School as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed training in internal medicine at the University of Michigan, serving as the chief medical resident. He trained in cardiovascular diseases at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where he remained on full-time faculty for 15 years.

During his tenure at UT Southwestern, Dr. Meidell acted for 10 years as the Director of the Coronary Care Unit at Parkland Memorial Hospital and was a founding faculty member for the Center for Biomedical Inventions at UT Southwestern. He has received numerous awards including the NHLBI National Research Service Award, Pfizer Post Doctoral Fellowship, Bugher Foundation Fellowship in Molecular Biology, and the American Heart Association Clinician-Scientist Award. He has served on numerous scientific committees including the Scientific Advisory Committee for the American Society of Gene Therapy, and The Research Allocations Advisory Committee for the American Heart Association Texas Affiliate.

Dr. Meidell joined Consultants in Cardiology in 2001. He has research interests in antithrombotic and thrombolytic therapy, and the pathophysiology and management of acute coronary syndromes. He serves on the editorial board of the American Journal of Cardiology, and acts as an editorial reviewer for 13 additional medical journals, including Circulation, Science and Journal of Clinical Investigation. Dr. Meidell is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. Special clinical interests include intensive care cardiology and cardiovascular genetics.

Theodore Takata, MD, FACC

Dr. Theodore S. Takata, CardiologistDr. Theodore S. Takata was born in Takoma Park, Maryland. He received his bachelor of arts in English literature with honors and bachelor of science in zoology from the University of Maryland at College Park. He was a member of Sigma Tau Delta, Phi Sigma Society and the General Honors curriculum program. He received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. Dr. Takata completed his training in internal medicine at Case Western Reserve's University Hospitals of Cleveland. He completed his training in cardiovascular disease at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and remained there for subspecialty training in cardiac electrophysiology.

Dr. Takata joined Consultants in Cardiology in 2002. His clinical specialization encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of complex cardiac arrhythmias, radiofrequency catheter ablation including the use of three-dimensional computer mapping system, and atrial fibrillation ablation. In terms of device therapy, Dr. Takata's specialization is in the implantation and management of pacemaker and implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICDs) including cardiac resynchronization pacing devices (biventricular pacing) as well as with ICD and pacemaker lead extraction and device removal. He also manages and treats various causes of syncope (passing out, fainting). He has authored a review article on Automated External Defibrillator and has also published several articles and abstracts on neurocardiogenic syncope.

Gurpreet (Gary) Baweja, MD

Gurpreet (Gary) Baweja, MD Dr. Baweja received his medical degree from King George's Medical College and finished residency training in Internal Medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He completed his training in echocardiography at University of Alabama, in cardiovascular disease at the University of Arizona and remained there for subspecialty training in interventional cardiology.

Dr. Baweja has received comprehensive training in all aspects of cardiology. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography and board eligible in interventional cardiology and vascular medicine (endovascular examination). In addition, Dr. Baweja has received advanced cardiac imaging training including level III certification (essential training required to be a Clinical Lab Director) in cardiac CT and echocardiography with added qualifications in cardiac MRI and vascular ultrasound. He is a Fellow of American College of Echocardiogrpahy and author of numerous research articles, abstracts, and textbook chapters in the field of cardiology.

Dr. Baweja joined Consultants in Cardiology in 2007. His clinical specialization encompasses coronary and peripheral vascular interventions including carotid, renal stenting and limb ischemia revascularization using lastest techniques like atherectomy and cryoplasty. His other interests include PFO/atrial septal defect closure, vena cava filter, transesophageal echocardiography and clinical research in imaging and interventional cardiology.

In his spare time, Dr. Baweja loves to play golf, travel, and spend quality time with his family.

Justin Martin, MD

Justin Martin, MD Dr. Martin is originally from Wichita Falls, Texas. He obtained his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin and his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and graduated as the class Valedictorian. He completed his medical internship and residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and his general cardiology fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Martin subsequently moved to Kansas City, where he received specialized training in percutaneous coronary and peripheral vascular intervention (balloon and stent angioplasty to open blocked arteries in the heart, legs, kidneys, and neck) at The Mid America Heart Institute. Dr. Martin is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology, and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Martin's professional interests are related to the non-invasive and invasive management of peripheral arterial and coronary artery disease.

Dr. Martin is married and has two children. He enjoys running, cooking, and spending time with his family.

Timothy Hadden, MD, FACC

Tim Hadden, MD,  Cardiologist

Dr. Hadden is originally from Lawton, Oklahoma. He received his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma and completed an internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University. He received his general cardiology training at the Texas Heart Institute/Baylor program in Houston and stayed an additional year to receive formal training in coronary and peripheral vascular intervention.

Dr. Hadden joined Consultants in 2008 and is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, and interventional cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and Society of Coronary Angiography and Interventions.

He is married and has three children and two dogs. He places a high priority on his family and is active in the local ministries of McKinney Bible Church, Bible Study Fellowship, and Young Life.

David Capper, MD

Dr. David Capper, Cardiologist

Dr. David P. Capper was born in Columbus, Ohio. He received his medical degree from University of Texas Medical School in Houston. He completed residency training at the University of Oregon Health Science in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Capper is board certified in internal medicine, with additional certification in hospital and palliative medicine. He has served many years in Fort Worth area as a primary care physician. Dr. Capper joined Consultants in Cardiology in 2004.

Mark Jackson, PA-C

Mark Jackson was born in Robstown, Texas. He attended the University of Texas at Arlington as a biology major before receiving his bachelor of science degree and PA certification at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in 1991. Since graduation Mark has spent the majority of time working in the field of adult general cardiology with some internal medicine background as well. Mark is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of PA's. He is a member of the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants and a Cardiac Care Associate member of the American College of Cardiology.

In his spare time Mark enjoys playing raquetball, tennis, chess, and watching movies. Mark is married and has 2 children. Mark joined Consultants in Cardiology in 2005.
